SIRIUS S0 power contactor — 3RT6023-1AP00
The Siemens 3RT6023-1AP00 is a SIRIUS S0-frame power contactor rated for motor switching at 23 kW on a 400 V three-phase line (AC-3 duty). It carries a 690 V insulation voltage and an AC-3 maximum operating voltage of 690 V, so it covers 400 V and 480 V panels without derating the voltage class.
The AC-3 motor rating of 23 kW at 400 V tells you this contactor handles a standard 4-pole induction motor up to that shaft power without an overload relay derating the contactor itself. At 230 V the same contactor is rated for 13.3 kW, and at 690 V it reaches 40 kW — so on a 480 V line (common in North America) you interpolate between the 400 V and 690 V figures. The AC-1 resistive rating is higher, but for motor loads the AC-3 figure governs. Storage range extends to -55 to +80 °C, which matters if the spare sits on a shelf in an unheated warehouse. The S0 frame size is the middle of the SIRIUS contactor family — smaller than the S2/S3 frames for higher-current motors, larger than the S00 frame for fractional-horsepower loads. It accepts screw-type terminals for both main and auxiliary circuits, with a wire range of 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) or 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded, and AWG equivalents 2x (16 to 12) or 2x (14 to 8). That covers most panel wiring up to 10 mm² at the main terminals.
The contactor accepts auxiliary contact blocks (screw-type) that snap onto the front or side. The mechanical switching frequency is rated at 5,000 operations per hour at AC, with a maximum of 1,000 per hour for AC-3 duty and 300 per hour for AC-4 (plugging/inching). That's typical for a general-purpose motor contactor — not for high-speed cycling applications like a stamping press, where you'd need a dedicated DC-operated or electronic switching device.
