Product details

It's the part that fails when a coil burns open or shorts, and swapping just the coil instead of the whole contactor is the field-service move that keeps a line running without pulling a panel apart. The control supply type is AC only — don't try to feed it DC; the impedance and magnetic circuit are wound for sine-wave operation.

The coil draws 7.9 V·A typical holding power once sealed. The voltage tolerance is given as 0.8 to 1.1 times rated at 50 Hz, and 0.85 to 1.1 at 60 Hz. That means at 50 Hz the coil will pick up and hold reliably from about 184 V to 253 V; at 60 Hz the lower end tightens to about 196 V. If your control voltage sags below those thresholds, the contactor may drop out or chatter — common in long cable runs or shared control transformers on a line with multiple coils pulling in simultaneously. Termination is screw-type, sized for the S0 contactor's coil terminals.

Frequently asked questions

What is the power consumption of the coil?

Typical holding power is 7.9 V·A at AC. Pick-up inrush is higher but momentary.
