It's the part that fails when the coil burns open or shorts, and swapping it is a lot faster than pulling the whole contactor off the DIN rail. Typical holding power draw is 10.5 VA — that's the steady-state load on the control transformer once the contactor is sealed in. The coil draw at pickup is higher (the inrush to pull the armature in), but the 10.5 VA figure is what the control circuit sees continuously. Make sure your transformer or PLC output can handle the inrush peak; the holding VA is well within a standard 24 VA control transformer's capacity.
The coil is designed for screw-terminal connection — two terminals for the control voltage, no polarity on AC. It snaps onto the contactor's magnet system without tools; the contactor stays on the DIN rail. That's the field-service angle: you can swap this coil in the panel without pulling wires from the main power circuit. Size S0 is a common contactor frame in the SIRIUS line (covers motor ratings roughly up to 18.5 kW at 400 V AC-3). If you're replacing a coil on an existing S0 contactor, verify the contactor's own order code — the coil voltage must match the existing control circuit.
