The Siemens 3RT7014-1AQ02 is a size S00 contactor with three normally-open main contacts, rated for AC-3 duty at 6 A at 230 V, 3 A at 400 V, and 1 A at 690 V. The AC-3 rating means it's designed for switching squirrel-cage motors — the most common induction motor load in industrial panels — up to those currents. The 690 V rating covers 480 V and 575 V line supplies common in North American and marine installations. The control coil is AC-powered. Closing power draw is 0.8 W DC; holding power drops to 0.27 W DC. That low holding power means the coil runs cool in a sealed panel — less heat to manage in a crowded DIN-rail row.
The S00 footprint — 45 mm wide, 57.5 mm tall, 72 mm deep — fits standard 45 mm-wide DIN-rail slots. IP20 on the front and at the terminals — finger-safe for a closed panel, but not washdown-rated. Keep it inside a cabinet.
Insulation voltage rated 690 V; surge voltage resistance 6 kV. For type 2 coordination (no-weld after fault), the recommended backup fuse is a 20 A gL/gG NH 3NA. For type 1 coordination (allow weld but clear fault), a 35 A gL/gG NH 3NA. That's the fuse size the panel designer needs to spec upstream. Maximum switching frequency: 750 operations per hour at AC-3, 250 at AC-4. AC-4 is plugging/reversing duty — harder on the contacts, so the lower rate reflects that. If your application cycles faster than 250/h under reversing loads, this contactor will overheat.
