Siemens 3RT7016-1AB01 — SIRIUS Size S00 Contactor, 24 VAC Coil
The Siemens 3RT7016-1AB01 is a SIRIUS size S00 contactor with a 24 V AC 50/60 Hz coil, three main poles, and screw-type terminals for both main and auxiliary circuits. It's rated for AC-3 switching up to 690 V, delivering 6 A at 230 V, 3 A at 400 V, and 1 A at 690 V. That covers most small motor loads — pumps, fans, conveyors — up to about 2.2 kW at 400 V three-phase. The coil pulls 0.8 W to close and holds at 0.27 W, so the control transformer doesn't need to be oversized.
That's a standard S00 footprint; it'll sit next to a SIRIUS overload relay or another contactor without wasting rail space. That helps when the panel layout is tight and you're working around busbars or duct. Terminals accept 2 x (0.5…1.5 mm²) solid or 2 x (0.75…2.5 mm²) stranded/finely stranded with ferrules. Strip length is standard for screw terminals — about 8–10 mm.
Switching Performance and Coordination
AC-3 switching frequency maxes out at 750 operations per hour; AC-4 drops to 250 per hour. That's typical for a size S00 — fine for normal motor starting, but if you're doing jogging or inching cycles, stay under the AC-4 limit. For short-circuit protection, use gL/gG fuses: 20 A for type 2 coordination, 35 A for type 1. Shock resistance is 9.8g at 5 ms and 5.9g at 10 ms — adequate for most fixed-mount panels, but not for direct mounting on a vibrating machine base. That covers unheated warehouses and most control cabinets without derating.
