The 3RT7027-1AH05 is a Siemens SIRIUS S0-frame contactor — size S0 is the compact workhorse for motor loads up to the 690 V AC-3 / AC-3e rated maximum. The AC-3 and AC-3e ratings both top out at 690 V. The 6 kV surge voltage resistance and pollution degree 3 mean this contactor holds up in the dirtier electrical environments you find near motors and drives. Auxiliary contacts are rated for PLC-level signals — the spec calls out acceptability for PLC control at 17 V, 5 mA.
The IP20 finger-safe enclosure on front and terminals means the panel builder doesn't need extra shrouding for routine access. Operating range is -10 to +55 °C, storage from -25 to +70 °C. That's fine for most indoor control panels; if the panel sits near a furnace or in a desert warehouse, watch the upper end. Shock resistance of 12.5g at 5 ms and 7.8g at 10 ms handles forklift bumps and door slams.
Coil and switching cycle limits
The DC magnet coil draws 0.82 W on closing and 0.24 W holding. The coil power is built into the S0 frame design; no external coil suppression needed for basic use. Maximum switching rate at AC-3 / AC-3e is 800 operations per hour; at AC-4 it drops to 250 per hour. AC-4 is plugging or inching duty — if your application jogs the motor repeatedly, you're limited to one cycle every 14 seconds. For normal starting (AC-3), one every 4.5 seconds is fine.
