The Siemens 3RT7916-1CD00 is an RC-type surge suppressor designed to plug directly onto the coil terminals of 3RT7 S00-frame contactors. Its job is to dampen voltage spikes when the contactor coil de-energizes — protecting nearby PLC outputs, sensors, and control electronics from inductive kickback.
The suppressor snaps onto the contactor's coil terminals — no wiring or DIN-rail space needed beyond what the contactor itself occupies. For a panel builder, that means zero additional fill factor in the enclosure and no extra termination points to torque.
