What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RU1116-0FB1 is a SIRIUS thermal overload relay — the Class 10 trip curve means it protects standard induction motors during start-up, letting the motor accelerate without nuisance tripping while still clearing a locked-rotor fault within 10 seconds at 7.2× rated current. Size S00 frame keeps the footprint compact at 45 mm wide, 87 mm tall, 78 mm deep.
Mounting and environment
Mounts standalone on a vertical surface with ±135° rotation and ±45° tilt front-to-back — flexible for tight panels. IP20 on the front means it's protected against solid objects larger than 12 mm but not sealed; keep it inside an enclosure for washdown or outdoor duty. Operating range from -20 to +70 °C, storage from -55 to +80 °C. Shock rated at 8g for 10 ms.
Termination and wiring
Screw-type terminals on the main circuit accept 1x 20–16 AWG solid or 1x 18–14 AWG, plus 1x 12 AWG. Auxiliary contact wiring uses 2x (0.5–1.5 mm²) or 2x (0.75–2.5 mm²) solid or finely stranded with ferrule. No auxiliary contacts fitted as standard — the relay itself has 0 auxiliary contacts; any add-on block is separate.
