The Siemens 3RU1116-0GB0 is a SIRIUS thermal overload relay in size S00, designed for contactor mounting and motor protection up to 690 V AC-3. Its Class 10 trip characteristic means it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the set current — fast enough to protect standard induction motors during a locked-rotor event without nuisance tripping on normal starts.
Mounting and integration
Mounts directly onto a contactor — no DIN rail required. The 45 mm width and 87 mm height fit the S00 footprint, with zero clearance needed upwards, forwards, backwards, or downwards. Side clearance of 6 mm is sufficient. The mounting position allows ±135° rotation and ±45° tilt front/back from vertical, giving panel builders flexibility in tight enclosures.
Termination and wiring
Screw-type terminals on both main and auxiliary/control circuits. Accepts solid conductors 2x (0.5…1.5 mm²) and 2x (0.75…2.5 mm²), or finely stranded with ferrule. AWG equivalents: 2x (20…16), 2x (18…14), 2x 12. The 78 mm depth leaves enough finger space behind the panel for wiring access.
Environmental and electrical ratings
Rated for operation from -20 to +70 °C, storage and transport from -55 to +80 °C. Withstands 8g / 10 ms shock. IP20 front protection means it is suitable for inside a locked enclosure — not for washdown or outdoor exposure. Thermal dissipation at AC hot state is 4.8 W total, 1.6 W per pole. Surge voltage resistance rated at 6 kV. Relative humidity tolerance up to 100 %.
