The Siemens 3RU1116-0GB0-ZW95 is a SIRIUS thermal overload relay, size S00, designed for motor protection with a CLASS 10 trip characteristic. It mounts directly to a contactor and provides three-pole overload protection with differential tripping for phase-loss sensitivity. Trip class CLASS 10 means it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the current setting — standard for standard-duty motor starting where the start-up time is under 10 seconds. This relay is not for heavy inertia loads that need a CLASS 20 or CLASS 30 curve.
The ATEX approval (DMT 98 ATEX G 001) qualifies it for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
Size S00 frame: 87 mm high, 45 mm wide, 78 mm deep. Fastens directly to the contactor — no DIN rail required for the relay itself. Clearance: 0 mm upwards/forwards/backwards/downwards, 6 mm at the side. The vertical mounting surface can be rotated ±135° or tilted ±45° front/back. Main circuit terminals accept screw-type connections: 2x (0.5…1.5 mm²) solid or 2x (0.75…2.5 mm²) fine-stranded with ferrules, plus AWG equivalents. Auxiliary/control terminals are also screw-type. Front face is IP20 — protected against finger contact, not against moisture. Keep it inside a panel rated IP54 or better for washdown areas. Power dissipation per pole is 1.6 W at rated current. In a sealed panel with multiple relays ganged side-by-side, factor that into your thermal budget.
Ambient operating range: -20 to +70 °C. Storage and transport: -55 to +80 °C. Shock rated to 8g / 10 ms. Surge voltage withstand: 6 kV. Auxiliary contact ratings: 1 A at 24 V, 0.22 A at 110/125 V, 0.11 A at 220 V, and 3 A at 120 V (likely resistive). Main circuit current ratings: 2 A at 230 V, 1 A at 400 V.
