SIRIUS thermal overload relay, Size S00, CLASS 10
The Siemens 3RU1116-0GB0-ZW96 is a SIRIUS thermal overload relay in Size S00, designed for motor protection in control panels. Its CLASS 10 trip characteristic means it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the set current — fast enough to protect standard induction motors during a locked-rotor event without nuisance tripping on normal starts.
Mounting and integration
Mounts directly onto a contactor via the contactor-mounting fastening method — no DIN rail required, though the relay itself is sized for the S00 footprint (45 mm wide, 87 mm tall, 78 mm deep). The mounting position is flexible: vertical surface with ±135° rotation and ±45° tilt front/back, which helps when panel layout is tight. Clearance: 0 mm upwards, forwards, and backwards; 6 mm at the side.
Auxiliary contact ratings and wiring
The auxiliary contact block is rated 1 A at 24 V, 3 A at 120 V, 2 A at 230 V, and 1 A at 400 V — these are the switching capacities for the signal circuit, not the main motor current. For the main circuit, screw-type terminals accept solid conductors: 2×(0.5…1.5 mm²) and 2×(0.75…2.5 mm²), or AWG 2×(20…16) and 2×(18…14). Auxiliary and control circuit terminals are also screw-type, accepting 2×(0.5…1.5 mm²) and 2×(0.75…2.5 mm²) solid, or finely stranded with core end processing.
