The Siemens 3RU1116-0GC1 is a SIRIUS thermal overload relay in Size S00, designed to protect motors against overload and phase failure. It trips to CLASS 10, meaning it will open within 10 seconds at 7.2× the set current — fast enough for standard induction motor starts without nuisance tripping on normal acceleration. Rated for AC-3 duty up to 690 V, it handles the full motor-switching voltage range common in European 400 V and North American 480 V panels. The Cage Clamp terminals accept 2x (0.5... 2.5 mm²) solid or 2x (0.5... 1.5 mm²) finely stranded with ferrules — no screwdriver torque check needed, just strip and push. Mounts standalone on a DIN rail or directly to a contactor; the mounting position allows ±135° rotation and ±45° tilt on a vertical surface, so it fits tight enclosures without derating. IP20 on the front means it's protected against finger contact but not washdown — keep it inside a panel.
Depth is 78 mm, width 45 mm, height 92 mm — fits the standard S00 footprint. Clearances: 0 mm upwards, forwards, backwards, and downwards; 6 mm at the side. That means you can pack relays side-by-side with zero vertical gap, but leave 6 mm lateral breathing room for heat dissipation. Rated for operation at altitudes up to 2 000 m without derating. Shock resistance is 8g / 10 ms — survives typical panel-door impacts during transport. Storage and transport temperature range is -55 to +80 °C; operating range is -20 to +70 °C.
