SIRIUS S3 thermal overload relay
The Siemens 3RU1146-4ED0 is a SIRIUS S3 thermal overload relay designed to protect motors against overload and phase failure.
The S3 frame size handles larger motor loads; the screw-type main terminals accept 2x (10 … 50 mm²) stranded or 10 … 70 mm² single conductor, so it's built for the power side of a motor branch circuit. Auxiliary and control circuits use Cage Clamp terminals (2x 0.5 … 2.5 mm² solid), which speed up wiring in the panel — no screwdriver torque check needed. The front face is IP20, so it's touch-safe for the panel interior but not for washdown environments.
This relay is designed for contactor mounting — it snaps onto the bottom of a matching SIRIUS contactor, eliminating separate panel wiring for the motor circuit. Mounting position allows vertical surface with ±135° rotation and ±45° tilt front/back, so it adapts to tight enclosure layouts. The depth is 140 mm, width 70 mm, height 120 mm — account for that when laying out the DIN rail and door clearance.
