Siemens 3RU2116-1FB0-ZX95 — SIRIUS Thermal Overload Relay, Size S00
The Siemens 3RU2116-1FB0-ZX95 is a SIRIUS-branded thermal overload relay in the Size S00 frame, designed for direct contactor mounting to protect motor circuits against overload and phase failure. Its CLASS 10 trip characteristic means it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the current setting — fast enough to protect standard induction motors during a stalled-rotor condition without nuisance tripping on normal starting inrush. Rated insulation voltage is 690 V, and the relay carries auxiliary contact ratings across common control voltages: 2 A at 24 V, 3 A at 120 V, 2 A at 230 V, and 1 A at 400 V. Motor power assignments are 1.5 kW at 400 V, 2.2 kW at 500 V, and 4 kW at 690 V. The relay snaps onto the matching SIRIUS contactor (3RT10 series) without additional hardware, keeping the panel layout compact. Screw-type terminals on the main circuit accept 2x (0.5…1.5 mm²) or 2x (0.75…2.5 mm²) solid or stranded conductors.
Integration & Mounting
Mounts directly onto the matching SIRIUS contactor (3RT10 series) via the contactor mounting fastening method — no DIN rail required, though the contactor itself may be DIN-rail mounted. The relay occupies the same S00 footprint as the contactor, so panel fill factor is unchanged. Mounting position is any orientation. Temperature compensation is active from -40 °C to +60 °C, keeping the trip curve accurate across the operating range of -40 °C to +70 °C. Storage and transport range extends to -55 °C to +80 °C. The auxiliary switch is integrated into the relay body — no separate add-on block needed. The tripped condition is signaled by a mechanical flag and an auxiliary contact changeover, with the Note for message "Tripped" indicating the relay's status output.
Compliance & Documentation
Substance prohibitance date is 10/01/2009. MTTF with high demand rate is 2,280 years. Terminal screws accept Pozidriv PZ 2 tips with a shaft diameter of 5…6 mm. The design of the overload release is thermal (bimetal), with manual or automatic reset options available via the front dial.
