What this 45 A overload relay does on the line
The Siemens 3RU5136-4GB0 is a SIRIUS thermal overload relay rated for 45 A operational current, adjustable from 36 to 45 A via the dial. It mounts directly onto a SIRIUS S2 contactor (screw-type terminals top and bottom for the main circuit), saving panel space and wiring time. The 3-pole design handles three-phase motor loads up to 690 V, 50/60 Hz.
Mounting and integration into a motor starter
This relay fastens directly onto the contactor via the S2 interface — no separate DIN-rail footprint needed, though the assembly can be mounted on a vertical surface with ±135° rotation or ±45° tilt. Side spacing to grounded parts is 6 mm minimum. The main circuit accepts 2× (0.5…1.5 mm²) solid/stranded or 2× (0.75…2.5 mm²) finely stranded with ferrules; AWG 18–3 for the mains, 20–14 for auxiliaries. Tightening torque for the main screw terminals is 3–5 N·m.
