The Siemens 3RU7116-0GB0 is a SIRIUS thermal overload relay in size S00, designed to protect three-phase AC/DC motor circuits up to 690 V. It mounts directly onto a S00 contactor — no DIN-rail space consumed, which keeps the panel density up.
Fastens directly to the contactor — no DIN rail needed. Mounting position allows ±135° rotation and ±45° tilt from vertical, which gives flexibility in tight cabinets but means the installer should lock the orientation before torquing the main circuit terminals to 0.8–1.2 N·m. Width is 45 mm, depth 78 mm, height 87 mm. Side clearance to grounded parts needs 6 mm minimum. Screw terminals accept 2x 0.5–1.5 mm² solid/stranded or 2x 0.75–2.5 mm² finely stranded with ferrules.
Auxiliary contact ratings and control circuit
For DC-13 solenoid loads at 24 V, the rated operational current is 1 A — that's the number to use when sizing the PLC output driving the relay's reset coil. Power loss per pole is 1.6 W, totaling 4.8 W for the three main poles. That's the heat that has to leave the enclosure; factor it into the panel's thermal calculation.
For a BOM freeze, this part is stable. No PCN watch needed unless Siemens issues a family-level revision.
