What this SIRIUS overload relay does

The Siemens 3RU7136-4BB0 is a SIRIUS S2-size thermal overload relay rated for a main circuit operational current of 20 A at 50/60 Hz, 690 V AC/DC. The relay mounts directly to a matching S2-size contactor (fastening method: contactor mounting) and is designed for vertical mounting surfaces with ±135° rotation and ±45° tilt to front/back.

Rated operational current is 20 A — this is the continuous current the relay's bimetal elements are calibrated for at the rated ambient. If the motor's acceleration time exceeds 10 seconds, a CLASS 20 or CLASS 30 relay would be needed to avoid nuisance tripping. Auxiliary contact ratings: 3 A at 24 V and 2 A at 230 V, with 1 A at DC-13 (24 V) for the auxiliary contacts. Auxiliary terminals use 0.8–1.2 N·m. The relay is rated for 8g / 10 ms shock per IEC 60068-2-27 and can be installed at altitudes up to 2 000 m above sea level.
