Motor protection circuit breaker for the panel builder
The Siemens 3RV1011-0BA10-ZW96 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker designed for motor protection, with Class 10 trip characteristics and phase failure detection. It mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715 using either screws or snap-on — your choice, both work. At 45 mm wide, it takes up one standard module slot, leaving room for the contactor alongside. Breaking capacity hits 100 kA at 400 V AC, so it handles high-fault-current panels without cascading upstream breakers.
What the ratings mean for fit
Class 10 trip means the bimetal releases within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting — standard for standard induction motor starting, not for high-inertia loads that need a Class 20 or 30. Phase failure detection is built in, so a lost phase trips the breaker before the motor single-phases and cooks the winding. Temperature compensation is active across -20 to +60 °C, meaning the trip curve doesn't drift when the panel sits next to a hot process line or in an unheated shed.
