Motor protection circuit breaker — SIRIUS 3RV1011-0JA10-ZW98
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RV1011-0JA10-ZW98 is a motor protection circuit breaker designed for protecting three-phase induction motors against overload, short-circuit, and phase failure. Trip Class 10 means it trips within 10 seconds at 7.2× the set current — fast enough to protect standard IEC motor windings during a stalled-rotor event. Phase failure detection is built in, so a lost phase on the line side will trip the breaker rather than letting the motor single-phase and overheat. Rated breaking capacity is 100 kA at 400 V AC, which covers most industrial distribution panels without requiring upstream current-limiting fuses. At 240 V AC the same 100 kA holds; at 690 V AC it also holds at 100 kA. For installations where the prospective short-circuit current exceeds the breaker's rating, the evidence specifies backup fuse requirements: at 400 V use gL/gG 10 A, at 500 V gL/gG 10 A, at 690 V gL/gG 10 A. At 240 V no backup fuse is required.
Mounting and integration
Mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm standard mounting rail per DIN EN 60715. Any mounting position is permitted. The 45 mm width matches the standard SIRIUS 3RV1 compact form factor. Main circuit terminals are screw-type, M3, accepting 2× (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) or 2× (0.75 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded copper. Temperature compensation is active across the full operating range of -20 to +60 °C, so the thermal trip curve stays accurate regardless of ambient heat inside the enclosure.
