This is the standard protection class for most general-purpose motor applications — pumps, fans, compressors — where the motor accelerates to full speed in under 10 seconds. The unit includes phase failure detection, which will trip if one phase is lost — a common cause of single-phasing damage in delta-connected motors. It does not include ground fault detection, so a separate ground-fault relay or RCD is needed if that protection is required.
The screw-type terminals for the main circuit accept 2x 0.5 to 1.5 mm² or 2x 0.75 to 2.5 mm² solid or stranded wire. The M3 screw terminals on the main contacts are standard for this class of breaker. Clearance requirements are modest: 20 mm upwards and downwards, 9 mm to the side, 0 mm forwards or backwards. This allows dense packing on the DIN rail in a control panel.
