SIRIUS 3RV1011-1CA25 — motor protection circuit breaker, 2.5 A, Class 10
The Siemens 3RV1011-1CA25 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker rated for 2.5 A continuous current with a Class 10 trip characteristic, designed to protect three-phase induction motors up to 0.75 kW at 400 V. It carries a 100 kA breaking capacity at 400 V AC, meaning it can safely interrupt a fault current up to that level without upstream fuses needing to clear first — a genuine high-fault rating for a compact 45 mm wide device. Phase failure detection is built in, so it will trip on loss of a phase, preventing single-phasing damage to the motor. The spring-loaded terminals accept 2x (0.25...2.5 mm²) solid or stranded wire, or 2x (24...14) AWG, with no screw-torque requirement — a time-saver on the panel build.
Mounting and panel fit
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm standard mounting rail per DIN EN 50022. Dimensions are 45 mm wide, 90 mm high, 81 mm deep — a standard SIRIUS breaker footprint that drops into existing 3RV1 panel layouts without re-drilling. No clearance needed at the sides or rear, so you can pack breakers tight on the rail. Any mounting position, and the IP20 front protection keeps fingers clear of live terminals inside the enclosure.
Breaking capacity and selectivity
The 100 kA breaking capacity at 240 V and 400 V AC drops to 10 kA at 500 V and 2 kA at 690 V. At 400 V — the most common industrial motor voltage — the 100 kA rating means this breaker can be used at the main distribution point without a backup fuse for most installations, provided the prospective short-circuit current stays under that figure. The 690 V rating of 2 kA is lower but still adequate for most 690 V motor circuits where the transformer impedance limits fault current. The surge voltage resistance of 6 000 V aligns with IEC 60947-2 overvoltage category III.
Environmental and compliance
Operating temperature range is -20 to +60 °C; storage and transport range is -50 to +80 °C. Shock resistance is 25 g for 11 ms. The substance prohibition date of 01.01.2013 aligns with RoHS and REACH compliance deadlines — the part is manufactured to meet those substance restrictions. Power dissipation in hot operating state is 7.25 W, relevant for enclosure thermal calculations when multiple breakers are ganged.
