Motor protection circuit breaker, SIRIUS series — Class 10 trip curve
The Siemens 3RV1011-1DA10-ZW98 is a SIRIUS-series motor protection circuit breaker, designed for protecting three-phase induction motors against overload and short-circuit. The Class 10 trip characteristic means it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting — the standard for standard-duty motor starting where the acceleration time is under 10 seconds. Phase failure detection is built in, so a lost phase on the line side will cause the breaker to open rather than let the motor single-phase and overheat. Mounting is via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, in any position. The 45 mm width (three module spaces) and 75 mm depth fit standard distribution boards and motor control center buckets. Terminals are M3 screw-type, accepting 2× (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) or 2× (0.75 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded copper.
Breaking capacity and fuse coordination
Rated short-circuit breaking capacity at 240 V is 100 kA; at 400 V it is also 100 kA. At 690 V the rating drops to 2 kA. For installations where the prospective fault current exceeds the breaker's interrupting rating at the operating voltage, the datasheet specifies upstream fusing: at 400 V, a gL/gG 40 A fuse is required; at 500 V and 690 V, a gL/gG 35 A fuse is required. At 240 V, no upstream fuse is required — the breaker is self-protecting at that voltage level.
Environmental limits and storage
Operating temperature range is -20 to +60 °C; storage and transport range is -50 to +80 °C. The storage limit governs handling and warehousing, not running conditions. Mounting position is any, which simplifies panel layout.
