What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RV1011-1EA10-ZW95 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker designed to protect motors against overload and short-circuit. Its Trip Class 10 means it trips within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting — fast enough to protect standard induction motors during a stalled-rotor condition without nuisance tripping on normal startup inrush. Rated breaking capacity hits 100 kA at both 240 V and 400 V, so it can interrupt high-fault-current events without cascading upstream — a key spec for panels fed by large transformers or close to the service entrance. Phase failure detection is built in, which prevents single-phasing damage on three-phase motors — a common failure mode that underspecified breakers miss.
Mounting and integration
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. The 45 mm width and 75 mm depth fit standard panel layouts; any mounting position is allowed. Screw-type terminals on the main circuit accept 2×(0.5…1.5 mm²) solid or stranded, or 2×(0.75…2.5 mm²). Clearance requirements: 20 mm upwards and downwards, 9 mm at the sides, zero forwards and backwards — so it can be packed tightly in a multi-row enclosure.
Key ratings at a glance
Rated operational voltage covers 20…690 V. At 230 V it handles 0.33 hp; at 200/208 V, 0.8 hp; at 220/230 V, 0.75 hp. Maximum switching rate in AC-3 duty is 15 operations per hour. For backup fuse coordination: at 400 V use gL/gG 40 A; at 500 V and 690 V use gL/gG 35 A. At 240 V no backup fuse is required. Ambient operating range -20…+60 °C; storage and transport -50…+80 °C.
