Motor protection circuit breaker, 4 A, Class 10
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RV1011-1EA20 is a motor protection circuit breaker rated for a continuous current of 4 A with a CLASS 10 trip characteristic, meaning it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× rated current — fast enough to protect standard induction motors during a stall or locked-rotor condition without nuisance tripping on normal starting inrush. Breaking capacity reaches 100 kA at both 240 V and 400 V AC, dropping to 3 kA at 500 V and 2 kA at 690 V — so on a 400 V line this breaker handles fault currents large enough to sit downstream of most distribution transformers without needing a current-limiting upstream device. Phase failure detection is built in, which prevents single-phasing damage on a three-phase motor load — common in older plants where a blown fuse on one phase might otherwise go unnoticed until the motor burns.
Mounting and integration
Snap-on mounting onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, or screw-fix to a backplate — zero clearance needed at the sides or rear (0 mm backwards, 0 mm at the side), so it packs tight in a panel without derating for air circulation. Dimensions are 45 mm wide, 90 mm tall, 81 mm deep — fits a standard 45 mm module slot on the rail. Spring-loaded terminals on both main and auxiliary circuits accept 2x (0.25... 2.5 mm²) solid or 2x (0.25... 1.5 mm²) finely stranded with ferrule. IP20 finger-safe protection on the front face; suitable for enclosed panel use where operators might reach in during maintenance.
Lifecycle and compliance
RoHS compliance date marked as 01.01.2013 — the part meets the EU RoHS directive effective from that date. Surge voltage resistance rated at 6 000 V, which covers the impulse withstand for industrial control panels per IEC 60947.
