Motor Protection Circuit Breaker for the Panel Builder
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RV1011-1GA10-0FJ0-ZX95 is a motor protection circuit breaker designed for the 6.3 A continuous current range, sized for a 2.2 kW motor at 400 V. It carries a CLASS 10 trip characteristic, meaning it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× rated current — fast enough to protect standard induction motors on a conveyor or pump start without nuisance tripping on the inrush. The 100 kA breaking capacity at 400 V AC gives it the interrupting capability to handle high-fault-current panels, so it can be used as a branch-circuit protective device without needing an upstream current-limiting fuse in many installations. Phase failure detection is built in, so if one leg drops out on a three-phase motor, the breaker opens before single-phasing cooks the winding. Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022, and the IP20 finger-safe front cover keeps live terminals out of reach in an open panel.
Breaking Capacity and Coordination
The 100 kA breaking capacity at 400 V AC is the headline number, but note the derating at higher voltages: 3 kA at 500 V and 2 kA at 690 V. That means if your panel feeds a 690 V motor, this breaker still interrupts faults, but you need to verify the available fault current at that voltage doesn't exceed 2 kA. The 6 kV rated surge voltage resistance confirms it handles switching transients on a 400 V system without flashover.
Integration and Wiring
Screw-type terminals accept 2x (0.5...1.5 mm²) solid or 2x (0.75...2.5 mm²) stranded conductors, AWG 2x (18...14). 45 mm width, 90 mm height. Any mounting position; -20 to +60 °C operating range.
