Motor-protection circuit breaker for panel integration
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RV1011-1GA10-ZW95 is a motor-protection circuit breaker designed to protect three-phase motors against overload and short-circuit. It carries a Trip Class 10 rating, meaning it trips within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting — fast enough to protect standard induction motors during a locked-rotor event. The interrupting capacity reaches 100 kA at both 240 V and 400 V, so it can be used on high-fault-capacity distribution without an upstream current-limiting fuse in many panel designs.
Mounting and wiring
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. The 45 mm width matches the standard SIRIUS 3RV1 compact footprint, so it fits alongside contactors in a motor starter combo without extra spacing. Screw-type terminals on the main circuit accept 2× (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) or 2× (0.75 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded copper. Mounting position is any orientation, which simplifies layout in tight enclosures.
Protection features and ratings
Built-in phase failure detection ensures the breaker trips if one phase drops out — a common cause of single-phasing motor damage. Ground fault detection is not included, so a separate ground-fault relay is needed if that function is required. The operating temperature range is -20 to +60 °C, with storage from -50 to +80 °C. Clearances: 20 mm above and below, 9 mm to the side, zero forward or backward — important for heat dissipation and arc-fault containment.
