The Siemens 3RV1011-1GA10-ZW96 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker designed to protect three-phase induction motors against overload, short-circuit, and phase failure. Its Class 10 trip characteristic matches the starting profile of standard squirrel-cage motors, allowing the inrush to pass while still clearing a locked-rotor condition before the winding temperature rises past the insulation class. Rated short-circuit breaking capacity hits 100 kA at both 240 V and 400 V — enough to sit upstream of most distribution transformers without needing a current-limiting backup fuse. At 690 V the SCCR drops to 2 kA, so on a 690 V line you still need the listed gL/gG 40 A backup fuse to reach full fault rating.
Mounting and integration
Snaps onto 35 mm standard mounting rail per DIN EN 60715, or screws directly to a backplate. Mounting position is any orientation, so it fits tight enclosures where vertical clearance is the constraint. The 45 mm width matches the standard SIRIUS 3RV1 footprint — one 45 mm slot per pole, leaving room for auxiliary contact blocks on the side without expanding the panel width. Clearance requirements: 20 mm upwards and downwards, 9 mm to the side, zero forwards or backwards. That 9 mm side gap lets you stack breakers edge-to-edge on the rail without thermal derating worries.
