What this breaker does and where it fits
The Siemens 3RV1011-1GA20-ZW96 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker rated for 6.3 A continuous current with a CLASS 10 trip characteristic, meaning it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× rated current — the standard thermal-magnetic curve for protecting standard induction motors during startup. Rated breaking capacity hits 100 kA at 400 V AC, so it can safely interrupt a bolted fault on a high-capacity distribution board without upstream fuses needing to clear first. Phase failure detection is built in — if one line drops, the breaker trips on the remaining two phases, preventing single-phasing damage to the motor. Power rating at 400 V is 2.2 kW, which matches a standard 3 kW frame motor on a 400 V supply (the breaker is sized for the motor FLA, not the motor nameplate kW).
Panel fit and wiring
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022. Width is 45 mm, height 90 mm, depth 81 mm — a standard SIRIUS 3RV1 footprint that shares the same slot as the 3RV1011-1HA10 and 3RV1011-0HA10 siblings. Main circuit and auxiliary/control circuits both terminate through spring-loaded terminals. Solid wire accepted is 2x (0.25... 2.5 mm²); finely stranded with ferrule is 2x (0.25... 1.5 mm²). AWG equivalent for main contacts is 2x (24... 14). IP20 on the front means it's finger-safe for panel installation but not rated for washdown — keep it inside an enclosure. Touch protection against electrical shock is finger-safe, so the live busbars behind the front cover are protected from accidental contact during commissioning.
Lifecycle and compliance
Substance prohibitance date is 01.01.2013, aligning with the original EU RoHS directive scope. The part is RoHS-compliant; REACH and UL documentation is available from Siemens on request. Operating temperature range is -20 to +60 °C; storage and transport range is -50 to +80 °C. Shock resistance rated at 25g / 11 ms.
