Motor Protection Circuit Breaker, 6.3 A, Trip Class 10
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RV1011-1GA20-ZW98 is a motor protection circuit breaker rated for 6.3 A continuous current, sized for a 2.2 kW motor at 400 V AC three-phase. Its Trip Class 10 means it trips within 10 seconds at 7.2× the set current — fast enough to protect standard induction motors from locked-rotor heat buildup without nuisance tripping on normal starting inrush. Breaking capacity hits 100 kA at 240 V and 400 V AC, dropping to 3 kA at 500 V and 2 kA at 690 V. That 100 kA figure at common panel voltages means it can interrupt a bolted fault without upstream fuses needing to clear first — useful in high-fault-capacity installations like large MCCs or transformer-fed subpanels. Phase failure detection is built in, so it catches a lost leg before the motor single-phases to failure. No ground-fault detection on this unit — that's handled separately if needed. Rated surge voltage 6 000 V, pollution degree typical for industrial control panels.
Mounting and Wiring
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022. Width is 45 mm — three 9 mm module spaces — so it fits standard distribution boards and motor starter assemblies. Any mounting position works; no derating needed for horizontal or inverted orientation. Spring-loaded terminals on both main and auxiliary circuits. Accepts 2x (0.25 to 2.5 mm²) solid or 2x (0.25 to 1.5 mm²) finely stranded with ferrule. AWG equivalent 2x (24 to 14). Strip length and screwdriver size follow standard spring-clamp practice. IP20 on the front — finger-safe touch protection, but not washdown-rated.
Lifecycle and Compliance
Operating temperature range -20 to +60 °C; storage and transport -50 to +80 °C. Shock rated 25 g for 11 ms — tough enough for machine-mounted applications near presses or conveyors. Power dissipation 7.25 W total at rated load, 2.4 W per pole.
