What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RV1011-1HA10-ZW98 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker, designed for motor protection in control panels. It combines a thermal-magnetic trip with Class 10 characteristics, meaning it clears a locked-rotor condition within about 10 seconds at 7.2× rated current — fast enough to protect standard induction motors during stall, but tolerant enough to ride through normal starting inrush.
Ratings that matter for fit
Snap-on mounting onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 60715, with screw terminals for the main circuit. The 45 mm width keeps it compact in a multi-breaker lineup. Wire range accepts 2×(0.5…1.5 mm²) solid or 2×(0.75…2.5 mm²) stranded — covers most motor feeder sizes up to the breaker's rating. Short-circuit breaking capacity varies with line voltage: 100 kA at 240 V, 13 kA at 400 V, 3 kA at 500 V, and 2 kA at 690 V. At 400 V, that 13 kA SCCR covers most industrial distribution panels; verify your available fault current at the breaker's line side. Phase failure detection is built in — the breaker trips on a lost phase, which saves motors from single-phasing.
Panel integration
Mounts in any position on 35 mm DIN rail. Clearance: 20 mm above and below, 9 mm to the side, zero forward clearance needed. Ambient operating range is -20 to +60 °C; storage and transport range extends to -50 to +80 °C.
