Motor protection circuit breaker for the panel builder
The Siemens 3RV1011-1JA10 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker, designed for motor protection with a CLASS 10 trip characteristic. Per the datasheet, the interrupting rating reaches 100 kA at 240 V and 13 kA at 400 V, so it handles high-fault-current scenarios typical in industrial distribution without cascading upstream. Phase failure detection is included, which means the breaker will trip on loss of a phase — a common cause of motor burnout in three-phase systems.
DIN rail fit and panel integration
Mounting is via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. The footprint is 45 mm wide by 90 mm high by 75 mm deep, so it occupies a single 45 mm module on the rail. Clearance requirements: 20 mm upwards, 20 mm downwards, 9 mm at the side, and zero forwards or backwards. Any mounting position is permitted, which simplifies layout in crowded enclosures.
Trip class and switching duty
The CLASS 10 trip class means the breaker will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting — standard for protecting standard induction motors during start-up. Maximum switching frequency is 15 operations per hour at AC-3 duty, so it is sized for motor starting, not frequent jogging or inching. The rated insulation voltage spans 20 to 690 V, covering most low-voltage motor circuits.
