Motor-protective circuit breaker for 4 kW loads
The Siemens 3RV1011-1JA15-0BA0 is a SIRIUS motor-protective circuit breaker rated for 10 A continuous current with CLASS 10 trip characteristic, sized for a 4 kW motor at 400 V AC. It combines a thermal overload release for sustained overcurrent and a magnetic short-circuit trip for fault clearing, with phase-failure detection built in. The 45 mm wide body snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022 and accepts screw-type terminals for the main and auxiliary circuits.
Breaking capacity and coordination
Rated breaking capacity reaches 100 kA at 240 V AC, 50 kA at 400 V AC, 3 kA at 500 V AC, and 2 kA at 690 V AC. These figures define the fault current the device can safely interrupt at each voltage level — critical for selectivity studies and SCCR compliance in a panel. The 690 V maximum operating voltage (AC-3 duty) covers 480 V and 600 V class systems common in North American and IEC installations.
Auxiliary contact ratings
The transverse auxiliary switch is rated 1 A at 24 V, 0.5 A at 230 V, and 0.15 A at 60 V. These are the switching capacities for the control circuit — useful when sizing the contact load for a PLC input or relay coil. Terminal wiring accepts solid or stranded conductors: 2x 0.5…1.5 mm² or 2x 0.75…2.5 mm², with AWG 18…14 equivalents for the main contacts.
Mounting and environment
Mounts in any position via screw fixing or snap-on onto a 35 mm DIN rail. The 45 x 90 x 81 mm (W x H x D) footprint fits standard distribution board spacing — zero clearance required at the sides or rear. IP20 on the front protects against finger contact in a closed panel. Operating temperature range is -50 to +60 °C, storage and transport -50 to +80 °C. Shock rated 25g / 11 ms.
