The Siemens SIRIUS 3RV1011-1KA20-ZW98 is a motor-protective circuit breaker rated for 12 A continuous current and 5.5 kW at 400 V AC-3. It's built for the panel — screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022, and the spring-loaded terminals on the main circuit accept 2x (0.25…2.5 mm²) solid or 2x (0.25…1.5 mm²) finely stranded with ferrules. Class 10 trip protects standard induction motors during stall or overload, and the phase failure detection catches a lost phase before the winding cooks.
Breaking capacity and coordination
Rated breaking capacity at 400 V AC is 50 kA — enough to clear high-fault panels without cascading upstream. At 240 V it jumps to 100 kA; at 500 V it drops to 3 kA, and at 690 V to 2 kA. The 6 000 V surge voltage resistance (rated impulse withstand) gives selectivity headroom for the downstream contactor.
Mounting and environment
Mounting position any — fine for horizontal or vertical DIN-rail layouts. IP20 on the front; the 45 mm width and 81 mm depth fit standard enclosure gland plates. Operating temperature -20 to +60 °C, storage and transport -50 to +80 °C. Shock rated at 25g / 11 ms — shrugs off the vibration you get near crushers and conveyors.
Power dissipation
Dissipates 9.25 W total in hot operating state at rated current, 3.1 W per pole. Factor that into your enclosure thermal budget — especially if grouping several breakers in a small panel.
