What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RV1011-1KA25 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker designed for motor protection in industrial control panels. It carries a continuous rated current of 12 A and is rated for 5.5 kW motor power at 400 V AC. The Trip Class 10 means it trips within 10 seconds at 7.2× rated current, matching standard motor start profiles for pumps, fans, and light conveyors.
Key ratings and what they mean for your panel
The 50 kA breaking capacity at 400 V AC means this breaker can safely interrupt a bolted fault up to that level without upstream fuses needing to clear first — useful for high-SCCR panel builds. The 12 A continuous rating is the load current it carries without tripping; pair it with a contactor rated for the same motor FLA. Phase failure detection is built in, so it will trip on loss of one phase, preventing single-phasing motor damage.
Mounting and wiring
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022. Spring-loaded terminals on both main and auxiliary/control circuits accept 2x (0.25... 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded wire (2x (24... 14) AWG). No tools needed for termination — a time-saver on repeat builds. The 45 mm width leaves room for adjacent contactors on the same rail. Any mounting position is permitted. IP20 front protection covers the terminals against accidental contact.
