SIRIUS 3RV1021-0DA15-ZW95 — Motor Protection Circuit Breaker
The Siemens 3RV1021-0DA15-ZW95 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker designed for protecting 0.32 A continuous-rated motor loads. Its Class 10 trip characteristic means it will disconnect within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting — fast enough to protect standard induction motors during a stall or locked-rotor event without nuisance tripping on normal startup inrush. Rated breaking capacity hits 100 kA at 400 V AC, which covers most industrial panel fault-current levels up to that threshold without needing an upstream current-limiting fuse. Phase failure detection is built in, so the breaker will trip if one phase drops out — a common cause of single-phasing motor damage.
Mounting and Wiring
Mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022. The 45 mm width (3-module) fits standard enclosure rail spacing. Screw-type terminals on both main and auxiliary circuits; solid wire from 0.5 to 2.5 mm² and stranded from 1 to 6 mm² are accepted. AWG 14–10 for the main contacts. No side or backward clearance required — zero spacing above or beside the unit — so it can pack tightly against adjacent devices. IP20 on the front face means finger-safe from the panel front; the body is not sealed against washdown, so keep it inside a cabinet. Operating temperature range –20 to +60 °C; storage and transport handle –50 to +80 °C.
Auxiliary Switch and Ratings
The auxiliary switch is transverse design and field-addable (product extension auxiliary switch: yes). Contact ratings: 1 A at 24 V, 0.5 A at 230 V, 0.15 A at 60 V. These are the switching currents for the signal contacts — useful for feeding a PLC input or a status lamp. The main circuit is rated for AC-3 duty up to 690 V, with a maximum operating frequency of 15 switching operations per hour at full load. Power dissipation in hot operating state is 5.5 W — factor that into enclosure thermal calculations if multiple breakers are ganged. The 0.09 kW rating at 400 V is the motor power this breaker protects at that voltage level.
