Motor protection circuit breaker for the 0.4 A line
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RV1021-0EA15-ZW98 is a motor protection circuit breaker designed for protecting induction motors against overload, short-circuit, and phase failure. Its 0.4 A continuous rated current covers small motor loads — the 0.09 kW rating at 400 V puts it on fractional-horsepower pumps, fans, and conveyor drives. The CLASS 10 trip characteristic matches standard motor start profiles, allowing the breaker to ride through the inrush without nuisance tripping.
Breaking capacity and fault clearance
Short-circuit breaking capacity is a flat 100 kA across the AC voltage range from 240 V to 690 V (–). That means this breaker can clear a bolted fault at the motor terminals without cascading upstream — useful in high-fault panels where the available fault current exceeds 50 kA. The 100 kA rating is the same at 400 V and 690 V, so it holds up even on 690 V industrial grids.
Mounting and wiring
Mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022. The 45 mm width is a standard single-module footprint — it fits alongside contactors and overload relays without stealing extra rail space. Main circuit terminals accept solid conductors from 2x (0.5... 1.5 mm²) to 2x (0.75... 2.5 mm²) and stranded from 2x (1... 2.5 mm²) to 2x (2.5... 6 mm²). Auxiliary and control circuit terminals are also screw-type, so the whole unit is wired with one screwdriver. IP20 front protection is standard for enclosed panels.
Auxiliary switch and control signals
The breaker accepts a transverse auxiliary switch — the product extension is available, meaning you can add a signal contact for remote fault indication or PLC input. The auxiliary contacts are rated 1 A at 24 V, 0.5 A at 230 V, and 0.15 A at 60 V. These ratings are for the control circuit; the main power path handles the motor current.
