Motor protection circuit breaker, 1 A, CLASS 10 — SIRIUS 3RV1021
The Siemens 3RV1021-0JA10-0FJ0-ZX95 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker designed for motor protection duty. It carries a rated continuous current of 1 A and a CLASS 10 trip characteristic, meaning it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the current setting — fast enough to protect standard induction motors during locked-rotor conditions without nuisance tripping on normal starts. Breaking capacity is 100 kA at 400 V AC (and across the full voltage range up to 690 V AC), so it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without upstream fuses or a larger breaker — a key advantage for panels with high available fault current. Phase failure detection is built in, so the breaker will trip if one phase is lost, preventing single-phasing damage to the motor. Ground fault detection is not included — that requires an external module or a separate ground-fault relay.
Mounting and panel integration
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022. The 45 mm width means it occupies a single modular space — important for panel fill-factor planning. Any mounting position is allowed, so vertical or horizontal rail orientation is fine. Dimensions: 45 mm wide × 97 mm high × 96 mm deep. The 96 mm depth is the body depth behind the panel face — account for it when laying out gland plates and door clearance. Front face is IP20 — finger-safe but not washdown-rated. Suitable for enclosed panels only; not for outdoor or wet-area mounting without an additional enclosure.
Terminal and wiring details
Main circuit terminals are screw-type. Accepts solid or stranded conductors: 2× (1 … 2.5 mm²) or 2× (2.5 … 6 mm²) per terminal. AWG equivalents: 2× (14 … 10). Finely stranded conductors with core-end processing are also supported. No auxiliary contacts are included on this variant — an auxiliary switch block can be added if needed.
Environmental and endurance ratings
Operating temperature range: -20 to +60 °C; storage and transport: -50 to +80 °C. Maximum operating altitude: 2,000 m. Shock resistance: 25 g / 11 ms. Mechanical endurance of main contacts: 100,000 operations typical. Power dissipation at rated current in hot operating state: 7.25 W total, 2.4 W per pole. This matters for thermal management inside a sealed enclosure — account for the heat when sizing ventilation or cooling. Surge voltage resistance rated at 6,000 V — consistent with IEC 60947-2 overvoltage category III for industrial panels.
