SIRIUS 3RV1021-1CA10-ZW97 — motor-protective circuit breaker, 2.5 A, CLASS 10
The Siemens 3RV1021-1CA10-ZW97 is a SIRIUS motor-protective circuit breaker rated for 2.5 A continuous current with a CLASS 10 trip characteristic, meaning it clears overloads fast enough to protect standard induction motors during a stalled-rotor start without nuisance tripping on normal acceleration. Its 100 kA breaking capacity at 400 V AC gives it the headroom to interrupt high fault currents in a 400 V distribution system without upstream fuses or a larger breaker — the 8 kA rating at 690 V still covers most 690 V motor circuits. Phase failure detection is built in, so a lost phase on the line side will trip the breaker and keep the motor from single-phasing. There is no ground-fault detection — that is handled separately by a residual-current device or a ground-fault module if the application requires it.
Panel integration and wiring
The 45 mm wide housing snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022 — standard for any European-style control panel. Screw terminals on both the main and auxiliary circuits accept solid or stranded conductors up to 6 mm², which is generous for a 2.5 A device and simplifies paralleling control wiring. Mounting position is any orientation, and the IP20 front keeps fingers out of live parts inside the enclosure. The auxiliary switch slot allows adding a remote status contact without increasing the panel footprint.
