Motor protection circuit breaker, 3.2 A, 100 kA at 400 V
The Siemens 3RV1021-1DA10-ZW96 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker rated for 3.2 A continuous current with a 100 kA breaking capacity at 400 V AC — enough to handle high-fault utility feeds without cascading upstream. The Class 10 trip curve means it clears a locked-rotor condition fast enough to protect a standard induction motor winding, not just the cable. Three poles, screw-type terminals, and a 45 mm wide footprint that snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022.
Trip class and breaking capacity
Class 10 trip means the breaker opens within 10 seconds at a locked-rotor current — standard for motor protection on pumps, fans, and compressors where the inrush is high but sustained overload damages windings. The 100 kA breaking capacity at 400 V is the same across 240 V and 500 V; at 690 V it drops to 8 kA. That 100 kA rating lets you place this breaker downstream of a transformer or bus without worrying about fault current coordination.
Mounting and wiring
Snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022 — no tools needed for the rail, but the screw terminals need a screwdriver. Accepts 2x (1 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded, or 2x (2.5 to 6 mm²). The 45 mm width and 96 mm depth fit standard panel layouts; zero clearance needed at the sides or back. IP20 front means it's protected against finger contact but not washdown — keep it inside the enclosure.
