Motor protection circuit breaker, 3.2 A, CLASS 10, 100 kA
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RV1021-1DA15-ZW96 is a motor protection circuit breaker rated for a continuous current of 3.2 A with a CLASS 10 trip characteristic, meaning it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the set current — fast enough to protect standard induction motors during a stall or locked-rotor event without nuisance tripping on normal starting inrush. Breaking capacity is 100 kA at 240 V, 400 V, and 500 V AC, dropping to 8 kA at 690 V AC. That 100 kA rating at common distribution voltages (400 V) means this breaker can be installed downstream of a high-capacity transformer without needing a current-limiting upstream device — it clears a bolted fault up to 100 kA on its own. Mounts via screw and snap-on onto a 35 mm standard mounting rail per DIN EN 50022. The IP20 rating on the front means it's protected against finger contact but not against water ingress — standard for enclosed panel installation.
Integration and wiring
Screw-type terminals for the main current circuit accept solid conductors: 2×(0.5…1.5 mm²) and 2×(0.75…2.5 mm²). Stranded conductors: 2×(1…2.5 mm²) and 2×(2.5…6 mm²). The auxiliary switch is transverse design; the breaker includes an auxiliary switch (yes) but no auxiliary contacts for the main circuit (0). Phase failure detection is built in — if one phase drops out, the breaker trips, preventing single-phasing damage to the motor. No ground-fault detection. Trip class CLASS 10 matches most standard motor starting profiles. Operating temperature range -20 to +60 °C; storage and transport -50 to +80 °C. Shock rated at 25g / 11 ms. Mounting position any. Dimensions: 45 mm wide, 97 mm high, 96 mm deep — fits a standard 45 mm modular device footprint on DIN rail.
