The breaking capacity tells you where this breaker can safely interrupt a fault without upstream damage: 100 kA at 240 V AC, 85 kA at 400 V AC, 50 kA at 500 V AC, and 10 kA at 690 V AC. At a typical 400 V industrial supply, 85 kA means it handles high-fault-current panels — common near large transformers or in heavy manufacturing. Protection characteristics
Overcurrent and short-circuit release is magnetic-only — no thermal bimetal for overload protection. This is normal for an MCCB used in a starter combination where the overload relay sits in the contactor. No ground-fault detection, no phase-failure detection.
