Breaking capacity: 100 kA at 240 VAC, 50 kA at 400 VAC, 12 kA at 500 VAC, 5 kA at 690 VAC. Three-pole, screw-type box terminals for the main circuit accepting 2x 0.75…16 mm² solid or 2x 0.75…25 mm² stranded, with a single conductor up to 35 mm². Finger-safe touch protection — no live metal exposed at the front, so panel builders can work near it without additional shrouding. Zero clearance needed at the sides or rear, so it packs tight in a crowded enclosure. IP20 on the front — fine for a dry indoor panel; not rated for washdown.
Lifecycle and sourcing — still in active production
Lifecycle stage is current — Siemens still manufactures this order code. Substance prohibitance date of 07/01/2006 indicates RoHS compliance for that cutoff.
Integration into a panel — DIN rail fit and wiring
Any mounting position accepted, so it can go sideways or upside-down in a tight sub-panel. Depth 149 mm, width 55 mm, height 140 mm. Auxiliary switch optional — the breaker accepts a snap-on auxiliary contact block if you need remote status feedback. No ground-fault detection built in; phase-failure detection is included.
Environmental and mechanical limits
Shock rated at 25 g for 11 ms — survives typical panel vibration and occasional drops during installation. Power dissipation 14.5 W in hot operating state, or 4.8 W per pole. That heat needs to be considered in a sealed enclosure with multiple breakers ganged together. Surge voltage resistance rated at 6 000 V — coordinates with standard industrial SPDs for impulse withstand.
