Motor protection breaker, CLASS 10, 100 kA SCCR
The Siemens 3RV2011-1CA10 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker designed for protecting three-phase motors against overload and short-circuit. Its CLASS 10 trip class means it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the set current — fast enough to protect standard IEC motors during locked-rotor starts without nuisance tripping on normal acceleration. Rated breaking capacity hits 100 kA at 400 V and 500 V, dropping to 10 kA at 690 V — this covers most industrial distribution panels where the available fault current is high but the motor branch is fed through a transformer with limited secondary fault capability. Phase failure detection is built in, so a lost phase on the line side will trip the breaker before the motor single-phases to destruction — a standard feature on SIRIUS breakers, but worth confirming if you're replacing an older design without it.
DIN rail footprint and panel integration
Width is 45 mm — three 15 mm modules on a standard DIN rail — with a depth of 97 mm and height of 97 mm. Mounting position is any orientation, and the fastening method accepts both screw fixing and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. Clearance requirements: 50 mm above and below, 30 mm to the side, 0 mm forward and backward. That 0 mm backward clearance means the breaker can sit flush against a back panel or busbar support without derating — useful in tight enclosures where every millimeter counts. Terminals are M3 screw-type for the main current circuit, accepting 2×(0.75–2.5 mm²) solid or stranded, or 2×4 mm². The wire range covers standard motor branch wiring up to 4 mm² — no need for ferrule adapters on stranded conductors.
Fuse coordination and operating limits
For backup fuse protection, the breaker coordinates with gL/gG fuses rated 25 A at 400 V and 500 V, and 20 A at 690 V. This matters when the available fault current exceeds the breaker's own interrupting rating — the upstream fuse clears the fault before the breaker ruptures. Maximum operating frequency in AC-3 duty (motor starting) is 15 switching operations per hour — adequate for most pump, fan, and conveyor cycles. Ambient operating range is -20 to +60 °C, with storage and transport range of -50 to +80 °C. Rated operational voltage spans 20 to 690 V, covering low-voltage motor circuits from 24 V control transformers up to 690 V industrial mains. The wide range means the same breaker can serve 400 V and 690 V motor branches without a voltage-rating variant change.
Sourcing and lifecycle status
For volume procurement or project quotes, availability and current pricing are confirmed at RFQ time. No stock-holding claim is made; each order is fulfilled from the supply chain against confirmed lead time.
