What it is and where it lands
The Siemens 3RV2011-1CA20-ZW96 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker designed for motor branch circuits. It snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715 and accepts spring-loaded terminals for the main current circuit, so it integrates into a standard panel without special tooling. Rated for 100 kA breaking capacity at 400 V, this breaker clears high fault currents upstream of the motor starter without cascading to the feeder breaker. That SCCR rating means it can be used on systems with available fault current up to that level, common in industrial distribution. Trip Class 10 means it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting, protecting the motor during a locked-rotor event without nuisance tripping on normal starting inrush. Phase failure detection is built in, so a lost phase on the line side will open the circuit before the motor single-phases to failure.
Sizing and fit for the panel
At 45 mm wide and 97 mm deep, this breaker occupies a single 45 mm slot on the DIN rail. The 106 mm height leaves clearance for busbar connections above and below. Clearance requirements: 50 mm above and below, 30 mm to the side, 0 mm forward and backward — so it can be stacked tightly in a multi-row enclosure as long as vertical air gaps are maintained. Spring-loaded terminals accept 2× (0.5 to 4 mm²) solid or stranded wire. No screwdriver torque check needed on the power connections — the spring clamp holds consistently across the wire range.
