What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RV2011-1CA40 is a SIRIUS motor protection circuit breaker designed for motor protection. It integrates phase failure detection and a Class 10 trip characteristic, meaning it trips within 10 seconds at 7.2× rated current — the standard for protecting standard induction motors during locked-rotor starts.
Breaking capacity and backup fusing
Rated breaking capacity hits 100 kA at 400 V and 500 V, dropping to 10 kA at 690 V. For installations needing higher fault current discrimination, the backup fuse ratings are gL/gG 25 A at 400 V and 500 V, and gL/gG 20 A at 690 V. That 100 kA figure at 400 V means it can clear a bolted fault in a high-capacity distribution panel without upstream fuses needing to coordinate — useful when you're dropping this into an existing MCC bucket where the available fault current is known to be high.
Mounting and integration
Mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. Width is 45 mm, depth 97 mm, height 97 mm. Mounting position any — no derating for horizontal or vertical orientation. Clearance requirements: 50 mm upwards and downwards, 30 mm at the side, 0 mm forwards and backwards. That zero forwards clearance means it can sit flush against a gland plate or back panel without needing breathing room on the front face.
