SIRIUS motor-protective circuit breaker — 3RV2011-1DA15-ZW96
The Siemens 3RV2011-1DA15-ZW96 is a SIRIUS motor-protective circuit breaker designed for motor protection in control panels. It carries a 100 kA short-circuit breaking capacity at 400 V, meaning it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without cascading upstream — critical for selectivity in a distribution board feeding motor starters. Trip Class 10 means the breaker trips within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting, matching standard IEC motor starting curves for pumps, fans, and compressors. Phase failure detection is built in, so a lost phase on a three-phase motor won't cook the winding while the breaker holds. Mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, in any orientation. The 97×45×97 mm footprint (depth × width × height) fits standard panel layouts with 50 mm clearance above and below, 30 mm to the side.
DIN rail integration and wiring
Snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, screw terminals accept 2×(0.5…1.5 mm²) or 2×(0.75…2.5 mm²) solid or stranded. Main contact terminals are M3. Mounting position is any — no derating needed for sideways or inverted install.
Breaking capacity and coordination
Short-circuit breaking capacity: 100 kA at 400 V and 500 V, 10 kA at 690 V. For a 480 V or 600 V system, the rated operational current is 3.2 A — the breaker is sized for smaller motor loads at those voltages. The gL/gG fuse backup ratings at 400 V (25 A), 500 V (32 A), and 690 V (25 A) give coordination targets for upstream protection.
