Motor protection circuit breaker for DIN-rail panels
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RV2011-1EA10-ZW97 is a motor protection circuit breaker designed to protect three-phase induction motors against overload, short-circuit, and phase failure. It snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, making it a direct fit for standard industrial control panels. Rated Trip Class 10, meaning it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting current — the standard for standard-duty motor starting where the acceleration time is under 10 seconds. Phase failure detection is built in, so a lost phase on the line side will trip the breaker rather than let the motor single-phase and burn. Short-circuit breaking capacity is 100 kA at 400 V and 500 V, and 100 kA at 240 V — that is full-rated for most industrial distribution panels without needing an upstream current-limiting fuse for coordination. At 690 V the rating drops to 4 kA, so verify the available fault current if the breaker is fed from a 690 V bus.
Mounting and wiring constraints
The breaker measures 45 mm wide by 97 mm high by 97 mm deep — a compact footprint that fits a standard 45 mm slot in a DIN-rail layout. Mounting position is any orientation, which simplifies panel layout when space is tight. Required clearances: 50 mm above and below, 30 mm to the sides, and zero clearance forward and backward — meaning it can be mounted flush against a backplate or enclosure wall. Terminals accept 2 × (0.75 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded, or 2 × 4 mm². Main contact screws are M3. The screw-type terminals are standard for panel wiring; torque values follow the manufacturer's spec for the wire gauge used.
