What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RV2011-1EA20-ZW97 is a SIRIUS-brand motor protection circuit breaker designed for motor protection, with phase failure detection built in. It covers a rated voltage range of 20 to 690 V, with a CLASS 10 trip class — meaning it will trip within 10 seconds under locked-rotor conditions, matching the thermal curve of standard induction motors. Breaking capacity hits 100 kA at 400 V and 500 V, and 100 kA at 240 V — so it can safely interrupt a fault up to that level without cascading upstream, which simplifies coordination in a panel. Rated current at 480 V is 4 A, and at 600 V it's also 4 A; the fuse backup ratings are gL/gG 32 A at 400 V and 500 V, and gL/gG 25 A at 690 V.
Panel fit and mounting
Mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm standard mounting rail per DIN EN 60715, in any mounting position — so it drops into a standard DIN-rail enclosure without special brackets. Dimensions: 97 mm deep, 45 mm wide, 106 mm high. Clearance requirements: 50 mm upwards and downwards, 30 mm at the side, 0 mm forwards and backwards — that backwards zero means it can sit flush against a backplate, handy when you're packing a tight gland plate. Main circuit connections use spring-loaded terminals, accepting 2x (0.5 to 4 mm²) solid or stranded wire — no screwdriver torque needed, just strip and push.
Environmental and duty limits
Operates from -20 to +60 °C, with temperature compensation active across that same range. Storage and transport range is -50 to +80 °C. Maximum switching frequency in AC-3 duty is 15 operations per hour — fine for a conveyor or pump start, not for a rapid-cycling application. Horsepower ratings: 0.33 hp at 230 V, 0.13 hp at 110/120 V, 0.8 hp at 200/208 V, 0.75 hp at 220/230 V, 2 hp at 460/480 V, and 3 hp at 575/600 V.
