What it is and where it fits
The Siemens 3RV2011-1FA15-ZW96 is a SIRIUS motor-protective circuit breaker designed to protect motors against overload, short circuit, and phase failure. It snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715 and fits any mounting position, which makes panel integration straightforward for both new builds and retrofits. Trip Class 10 means it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting — fast enough to protect most standard induction motors during a stall or jam, without nuisance tripping on normal starting current.
Breaking capacity and selectivity
Rated breaking capacity hits 100 kA at 240 V, 400 V, and 500 V, dropping to 4 kA at 690 V. That 100 kA figure at common industrial voltages (400 V three-phase) means this breaker can clear a bolted fault without upstream devices having to open — it's selective with most standard feeder breakers in the panel. Phase failure detection is built in, so if you lose a phase on the line side, the breaker trips and keeps the motor from single-phasing and burning up. No ground fault detection here, so if that's needed, you'll add a separate GF relay or specify a different variant.
Panel integration and wiring
At 45 mm wide, it occupies a single DIN-rail module space. The screw-type terminals accept 2x 0.5–1.5 mm² or 2x 0.75–2.5 mm² solid or stranded copper. Use M3 screws for the main contacts. Operating temperature range is -20 to +60 °C; storage and transport go down to -50 °C and up to +80 °C. Rated operational voltage spans 20 to 690 V AC, covering most low-voltage industrial systems. The auxiliary contact ratings vary by voltage: 1 A at 24 V, 0.5 A at 120/125/230 V, and 0.15 A at 60 V.
