Motor Protection Circuit Breaker — SIRIUS 3RV2011-1GA25-ZW97
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RV2011-1GA25-ZW97 is a motor protection circuit breaker designed for protecting three-phase induction motors against overload and short-circuit. It is part of the SIRIUS family, the standard modular component system for motor feeders in industrial control panels. This variant carries a continuous current rating of 6.3 A at 480 V and 600 V, and delivers a short-circuit breaking capacity of 100 kA at both 240 V and 400 V — sufficient for high-fault installations like large MCCs or distribution boards. Trip Class 10 means it will trip within 10 seconds at 7.2× the thermal setting current, matching the standard thermal withstand curve of standard IEC induction motors. Phase failure detection is built in, so a lost phase on the supply side will cause the breaker to open before the motor single-phases to destruction.
Mounting and Wiring
Mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. Any mounting position is acceptable — no derating for horizontal or vertical orientation. The spring-loaded terminals (cage clamp) accept 2× 0.5…2.5 mm² solid or stranded conductors, saving wire-prep time compared to screw terminals. Dimensions are 45 mm wide × 106 mm high × 97 mm deep. The 45 mm width occupies two standard module spaces on the DIN rail.
Breaking Capacity and Coordination
Rated short-circuit breaking capacity is 100 kA at 400 V, dropping to 4 kA at 690 V. For gL/gG fuse backup at higher voltages, the maximum permitted fuse rating is 50 A at 400 V, 40 A at 500 V, and 35 A at 690 V. This allows Type 2 coordination with a standard fuse upstream.
